Miss Tourism Pageant Launches Exciting “Show Us Your City or State” Challenge for All of Tourism including Ambassadors!
Starting in April – The Miss Tourism Pageant is calling on its titleholders to step into the spotlight and showcase the best their city or state has to offer! The “Show Us Your City or State” Challenge encourages contestants to highlight the unique and fascinating aspects of their hometowns—going beyond the usual tourist spots to uncover unusual monuments, historic sites, distinctive businesses, local legends, and hidden gems.
Each contestant will submit photos of their chosen locations, with them in the photo {wearing their iconic crowns and sashes} sharing the story behind them and why they make their state a must-visit destination. But for those who want to take it a step further, there’s an exclusive opportunity to become a WMT Reporter! Aspiring reporters can create video reports or written features on their chosen locations, bringing history, folklore, and cultural landmarks to life.
“This is a Tourism Pageant, and what better way to showcase tourism than through the eyes of our incredible titleholders?” said Teri Z, Executive Director. “We want to see what makes your state special—what should travelers experience when they visit? Whether it’s an incredible piece of history, a one-of-a-kind business, or a legend that locals cherish, we want to hear your stories!”
This challenge not only highlights each contestant’s home state but also provides an exciting platform to develop storytelling, public speaking, and media skills. The best features will be spotlighted on official Miss Tourism platforms, inspiring audiences to explore new places through the eyes of our remarkable titleholders.
How to Participate:
Choose an unusual monument, historic site, unique business, or folklore story from your city or state.
Take a photo in your crown and sash as close up as possible, dressed for press and share why it’s special.
Want to go the extra mile? Submit a WMT Reporter video or written feature about your location!
Post on social media using #ShowUsYourState #MissTourismReporter #ExploreWithMissTourism
The challenge is a perfect way to celebrate tourism, culture, and history while helping titleholders engage with their communities in meaningful ways. So, grab your camera, get into storyteller mode, and show the world why your state is a must-visit destination! And why you should become the next Miss Tourism!!

Wear crown and sash.
Dress for press. (you never know when press may show up).
Photo and video should be close ups and YOU should be in most ALL shots.
Safety First:
Never go alone.
Never disclose where you are going. This means no social media posts about where you will be. Only when the photo or videos are posted should people know where you were.
Have a Safety plan in place.

Photos due by 7PM the day they are posted if their is something for the 2nd it is due by 7PM CST that day. You may do them ahead but please post on the day due. April 2nd- share a photo of you enjoying spring, a spring lunch, a spring flower garden, a spring outfit.
April 5th- what in your city or State would a tourist LOVE? Find that and do a photo of you and that in crown and sash and a video for those who are extra. We love extra.
April 7th- What is your guilty pleasure? Is it ice cream? Is it cake? Is it shopping? share with us, in your crown and sash.
April 12th- Every city and state has local artists, whether painting, music, pottery, jewelry find that for us and share in your crown and sash.
April 15th- Share your favorite place or locals fave place to hang out and tell us why. As always in crown and sash.
April 19th- How does your city or State celebrate Easter? Show us is it a parade? Is it an city or state Easter egg hunt, or Does your city or states church do a pageant about Jesus?
April 20th- Make an Easter bonnet. A beautiful spring time Easter bonnet we will do a vote for $2.00 per vote and you could win Ulta gift cards, restaurant gift cards or other prizes. Most elegant bonnet. Most humorous bonnet. Most Easter-ish bonnet and more. Voting will begin at 8PM CST on April 20th and end April 23rd 8PM winners announced by 9pm CST on the 24th April.
April 26th- Show us why your City or State is Unique. This should be something off the beaten path. In your crown and sash grab close up photos and if extra be a reporter for WMT and show us your reporting skills.
April 26th- What is the most unique place to eat in your city or state. Photos in crown and sash close ups and if possible interview the manager or owner for WMT NEWS! Always in crown and sash. Press ready.
April 30th- Share a local charitable location, Food pantry, Pet shelter, ministry something that gives back to the community. Be extra you know we love that WMT NEW REPORTERs to share stories of what their town does for others.
